Recognizing that geoinformation is multidisciplinary, GEOSON upholds integrity, competence, equality, and social awareness. Our mission is to advance geoinformation ethically by: 1. Supporting and participating in the continuing development of geoinformation. 2. Serving humanity with honesty and forthrightness within geoinformation practice. 3. Recognizing the inalienable rights of members and other professionals in advancing science and humanity. 4. Using expertise to enhance human welfare and steward national resources through geoinformation applications. 5. Promoting innovation, research, and cutting-edge geoinformation technologies for sustainable development.

The Geoinformation Society of Nigeria (GEOSON) Oyo State Chapter is a professional body committed to advancing geospatial knowledge, mentorship, and innovation across Oyo State. We connect geospatial professionals, educators, students, and institutions through regular chapter meetings, the Geo-Mentor programme, and community mapping initiatives. Chapter Established at University of Ibadan

GEOSON Oyo State Chapter was officially inaugurated at the University of Ibadan, marking the beginning of organised geospatial professional practice in the state.

2018
Geo-Mentor Programme Launched

The Geo-Mentor programme was launched with first 5 secondary schools adopted, connecting geospatial professionals with the next generation of practitioners.

2020
First Annual Awards & Recognition Ceremony

The inaugural Awards & Recognition ceremony celebrated outstanding contributions to geospatial science across Oyo State.

2022
Digital Platform Launch

The GEOSON digital platform went live with 100+ active members, enabling online registration, mentor matching, and event management across the state.
